This Hello Kitty Party Land guide covers your first hour in the party game on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2: making an avatar, picking a partner, finding your way around Hometown and understanding coins and stickers. It is not Hello Kitty Island Adventure, which is a different 2023 game. The game came out on October 29, 2026.
Hello Kitty Party Land guide: your first hour
- Make your avatar and choose a Sanrio partner.
- Walk around Hometown and talk to the characters you meet. Chatting earns stickers.
- Visit the Game Park and try a few mini games on Easy.
- Play your first board, because the Blooming Flower Festival board is tied to a partner unlock.
- Spend your first coins on an outfit at the Shopping Mall.
Follow this Hello Kitty Party Land guide in order, or skip around. There is no timer in Hometown, so explore at your own pace. Younger players can start with the Hello Kitty Party Land mini games and come back to boards later.
Make your avatar and pick a partner
You build a chibi human avatar and choose a hairstyle and outfit. Nintendo World Report found no animal options. Each player is then paired with a Sanrio partner, and you can play as your avatar or as your partner.
There are 16 playable partners. Bandai Namco has not published the full list yet; we will add it when a source confirms it. You can browse the cast on the Hello Kitty Party Land characters page.
Getting around Hometown
Hometown is the hub. These are the places the game manual describes:
| Place | What you do there |
|---|---|
| Game Park | Start games. The rightmost counter is the Minigame Corner. |
| Shopping Mall | Buy outfits and accessories with coins. |
| Make-Up Salon | Third floor of the mall. It changes your look for free. |
| Creative Labo | Music cakes in Melody Cake, stamp art in Poster Studio and Labo Puzzle. |
| Photo Studio | Tripod, Selfie Stick and Drone cameras. The Partner Room is here. |
| Sky Farm | A garden above the clouds for growing fruit and vegetables, fishing and Petit Games. |
| Waterwheel | Next to Creative Labo. Trade Waterwheel Tickets for coins or special hairstyles. |
Sky Farm details come from the manual and a few previews, and the full rules have not been published. When you want a group game, jump to the Hello Kitty Party Land boards guide or read how Hello Kitty Party Land multiplayer works.
Coins, Waterwheel Tickets and what to spend them on
Coins come from board game results and other modes. Boards always award coins, so even a weak run pays something. Spend them at the Shopping Mall. You can save up to eight outfit sets.
Waterwheel Tickets are a second currency. The manual says you earn them over time or by helping friends in Hide-and-Seek, where you use the drone camera. Trade them at the Waterwheel. The full prize list is not published yet.
Stickers and how to unlock characters
Stickers are earned by talking with friends in town and by playing mini games. They go into your Sticker Book, and you can stick them on a Character T-Shirt. Clear every difficulty level of a mini game (Easy, Medium and Super Hard) for a special sticker, shown by a blue present icon.
The game has more than 145 Sanrio characters to meet. A mini game with a present icon in the Minigame Corner may introduce someone new, according to the manual. Special clothing is linked to friendship levels, shown as stars, and to the cave in Sky Farm. The manual says Badtz-Maru becomes a partner after you play the Blooming Flower Festival board. Other partner unlocks are not published.
Beginner tips
- Start mini games on Easy. Each one has Easy, Medium and Super Hard.
- Most mini games share one group score, so play together instead of racing.
- Use the free Make-Up Salon whenever you want a new look. Coins are for new clothes.
- Rotating the stick fast in the apple-peeling game can tire your hands, says Cubed3. Take breaks.
